The Ventures of MissBiz

This is a journal of my personal ventures in business, as a business student, and as a student in life. This is a blog for me, but if you'd like to follow along - you might be in for a wicked ride!

No Rest For The Wicked

It's taking me a bit to get back into this fully. It's 2 days before Christmas! That means that I'm at home in Moncton and I've been doing quite a bit of work, sleeping, and visiting friends and family. I can't post my MissBiz articles until after the break - which will be around the first of January - because they are on my laptop, which is inconveniently at school.

In the meantime, it is 3:23 am and I am writing a press release for TeeBoxx which will be sent out to a company in the states (I believe Chicago) who will then forward it to publications worldwide - hopefully in time for the tradeshow at the end of January. My dad left for Hong Kong at the first of this month and he returned on December 15th with printed posters and brochures for the show. It all looks really good!

My problem is the passport issue. As of January 2007, everyone will need an actual passport to travel to and from the USA/ Canada. As you can imagine, there is a major backlog right now due to the holiday's and people needed to get back and forth from their vacations. I just got my application signed from my family doctor today. I also got my passport picture taken a few days ago, which I have to take to Fredericton (which is a 2 hour drive away) to drop it off. I hope I get it on time or else MissBiz might be outta luck!

Tonight, however, I've been writing this press release and frantically searching for an adequate MissBiz article to write about. I'm fairly certain I know what I'm going to write about - something in regards to supporting and funding sports teams in Atlantic Canada, and how it boosts the economy and cohesion of surrouning communities. I'm treating this as a means to learn more about the needs, benefits, and overall role of sports (particularly hockey) in Canada as a business. As I may have mentioned before, I'm helping with the business side of developing a hockey team for a city in Atlantic Canada (which will remain un-named until further developments!). I need to do as much research as possible on the topic so I am well versed in all aspects of the business. Also, this might be a good way to show local businesses how important it is to support local sports teams. I figure, I'm killing several huge birds with one stone.

I'm off to bed!

The Return of MissBiz

I'm back! It feels so good to be writing on here again. No, I wasn't experiencing "blog depression", as I've discussed before, I just had a million things going on, plus some *personal relationship* issues going on as well. But nevertheless, I haven't forgotten about my beloved blog for this past month and I have a ton of great stuff to talk about.

During my extended blog holiday, I solidified a few important factors in my life that were causing major stress for the past few months. First, I have decided to stay for the full school year. This was not an easy decision to make, as I had to weigh out the benefits and opportunity costs of doing so. However, after much deliberation, I kept finding myself wanting to finish out the year, get a minor in English to accompany my double major, and to keep MissBiz alive.

I actually have about 4 new MissBiz articles to post on here, which I will be doing very soon. I also have major updates regarding Scribe, and its ongoing development. I have also managed to get involved in another business start-up with a colleague (and friend) from a past start-up which was called Blueprint Innovations. I'm not liable to give specifics yet, but we're organizing a Major Junior Hockey Team for a city near by.

I have still not disclosed "the golf product" name so far, however, I feel like it's time to, since I will be working on it so much over the Christmas break and right up until the PGA Merchandise Tradeshow at the end of January. The product name is TeeBoxx Golf. My dad is in Hong Kong right now getting the packaging and products all sorted out. It will be interesting to see us pull this show together. Apparently we are next to the Inside Approach, which is great :)

I will post the MissBiz articles shortly.

It's so good to be back!
