The Ventures of MissBiz

This is a journal of my personal ventures in business, as a business student, and as a student in life. This is a blog for me, but if you'd like to follow along - you might be in for a wicked ride!

So what if I like tea and 80's nights!

This has quickly become one of my most frequented blogs... It's genious, and oh-so-very accurate in my own personal experience - which is sad and hilarious all at the same time. From a business stand-point, this website could prove to be very useful for trend watching, seeing as it has millions of views already, and tons of feedback from readers.

Most notable entries for me would include #60, #50, #49, #21, #14, #5. Some of these apply to me, and some are just too damn funny - yet un-debatable.

As Promised...

Soon after my last post, I flew off to Gatineau, Quebec, for Purolator's 2008 National Sales Conference, which is an annual event where all Purolator Sales Pofessionals gather to meet each other, recognize each other's achieventments, and to just have fun together. It was actually a really great time. The two nights we were there, we had a full-out disco party and the night following saw a very formal awards ceremony. Unfortunately, I had an aweful cold the whole time so I called it a relatively early night both nights, but it was still an awesome experience to see how massive a company Purolator really is, and how involved and dedicated everyone is. Everyone truly loves being apart of this huge machine, and I got to see just why in those couple of days. There was a real sense of commuity and devotion, and that's not a common thing to come by these days with massive companies.

This past week, Thursday to be exact, I was on the road bright and early at 7:00 am to finally introduce the Courier Lead program to our couriers. As I've mentioned before, I'm taking the reigns on this program, and so far it's looking unbelievably positive! The only drawback was trying to talk loud enough in a warehouse to about 45 couriers; my squeeky voice lacks that deep and brooding tone of a man, after all. But it went very well, and just going in and introducing myself and the program brought in about 5 random leads from couriers that morning! I really believe in the potential of this program, and I know that Atlantic has an abundance of untapped business opportunity that our couriers are literally on the pulse of. It'll be exciting to see how it rolls out. Plus, I might even have the chance to travel to a few depots around Atlantic (maybe even Newfoundland if I'm lucky?!) so I can re-launch the program to all of our couriers!

For the past few weeks I've been mulling over the publication we are about to emark on - we being my boyfriend and I. We still have quite a bit of work on our hands even just putting the business plan together and laying out the format of it, but it's progressively coming together. Tomorrow is strictly dedicated to working on it, so I'm pretty excited about that.

Completely unrelated, but as I've promised, here is a picture of my very first knitted project. It's a simple bag with some purling. Below is my second peice, which is my first scarf ever, which actually took two balls of yarn that were essentially knitted together. It turned out quite nicely I think!
